The Spirituality of Food
“They all wait for you, to give them their food in due season; when you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are filled with good things.” -Psalm 104:27 Food is such a significant part of our lives. People have come together to eat, gathered around tables since the earliest of times. But food is much more than just a “stomach-filler”. It offers us a way of celebrating, comforting, being creative, sharing, healing, giving thanksgiving and providing for equality and justice. Food is a spiritual gift. Join us for a day of exploring the many facets of that gift. We will look at the ancient meaning and biblical roots of food as well as its present significance upon our lives. As we evaluate our own eating habits, we will learn about making choices that not only impact our own health and well being, but also that of others around us in our communities and beyond. Together we will understand anew God's wonderful gift of food. |
